As spring blooms around us, it’s the perfect time to embrace the vibrant energy of the season and engage in activities that celebrate nature and learning. Here is an exciting and educational ant-themed math activity that is sure to engage your kids and add a touch of springtime joy.

Why Ants?

Spring is a season of renewal and growth, where nature comes alive with buzzing insects and bustling activity. What better way to embrace this theme than by incorporating ants into our learning adventures?

Incorporating a video

Anytime I can, I like to add in a fun video that will grab the attention of my kids. I found this cute one from Pinkfong. It is perfect for this activity because it’s a song about “ants in my pants!” Give it a try. You can try it before or after the activity.

Ants in my pants! How to do this activity

Start by cutting out the activity. One side has ants and pants while the other side has the addition writing activity.

I like to cut the ants out in a strip to hand to my child for them to cut out. I demonstrate below

I did this especially for my 4 year old who is starting to work on their cutting skills.

Have your child glue the ants on both sides of the pants legs.

I added two types of sentences for whichever level you are working on with your child. One includes the addition sentence while the other only has the number sentence.

Thats it! Let me know how you liked it!
